This month we moved into our office space on Bradford Road! Here’s Lauren settling into her new desk space. As well as sourcing office furniture and making the space ready for our business drop in sessions we have continued to deliver the pre-planned events as well as aiming to meet the objectives of the business plan.
We have loads of ideas for supporting our businesses and we would love to share these with you, hear your thoughts and for you to contribute your ideas too.
Therefore, we are hosting a number of drop-in sessions where you can pop in and chat with us about what you want to see in Brighouse.
We look forward to meeting with you. The drop in dates and times are:
- Tuesday 8th October 8-08.00am – 09.30am
- Wednesday 9th October 12.30pm – 2pm
- Wednesday 9th October 4.30-6pm
Hopefully, you are aware that the monthly artisan markets are quite new in terms of frequency, BID took over from the Brighouse Business Initiative (BBI) in June this year and since then we have been trying hard to grow these events. The weather wasn’t kind to us in July so it was poorly attended by traders.
It was a little better in August, however, we anticipate that it will take a while for us to build this up and we are reaching to more artisan traders. Work has started on organising the larger Christmas Market/Christmas Light Switch On. We have some ambitious plans for new street entertainment and stage performers. We will keep you posted!
We are planning to offer a number of different workshops to levy payers from social media, digital marketing, first aid, cyber security, GDPR and health and safety. Our in-house marketing expert can definitely help our more retailers and businesses that sell to consumers with Facebook ads and Instagram training as well as our Business-to-Business levy payers with expert guidance on using LinkedIn for lead generation. We also want to hear from you about what you would find useful. We are opening up the BID office space for co-working and meeting space. For more details please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Brighouse BID are planning on holding a Halloween Trail around Brighouse on Saturday 26th October. The trail sheets are free, and the children have the chance to enter a free prize draw. It will be printed on the sheet that each child dressed in a Halloween outfit presenting their trail sheet in the participating businesses will receive a treat (we cannot provide these). The children will collect numbers and letters from each of the businesses and complete the sheet.
If your business would like to take part please contact Brighouse BID on 01484 937006 or email email@example.com no later than Thursday 26th September.
This then allows time for printing the trail sheets and promotion of the event. It would add to the fun of the day if staff would get involved by also dressing up and decorating your shop, the children love this!
Those businesses who took part in previous years will agree that the trail is great fun with lots of excited children involved. The idea of these events is to promote Brighouse as a busy town, which is a competitive destination in which to work, visit and live in. Please note, due to logistics and little legs, you must be based on one of the following streets to take part: Commercial Street, King Street, Bradford Road, Bethel Street, Market Street, Park Street, Hall Street and Briggate.
Exciting news! The government has recently announced that Brighouse has been named as one of an additional 100 towns who can apply for up to £12.5m to improve Brighouse, you can read about it and listen to what Craig Whittaker has to say here http://bit.ly/2kG8dh6
We have been in various discussions with the police and providers of shopwatch schemes. There are a number of options, however, because we are based in a valley, we do have some radio connectivity issues. We are assessing various options and will update you here.
BID Management Database
We have recently installed a fantastic piece of software to help us become extremely effective. It will take a little while to fully develop the various bits of technology that it is capable of doing and we will be moving various things online such as being able to book workshops and manage events. We will be sending out various communications over the coming months to understand your preferences and giving you the opportunity to develop the conversation with us.
Levy Payer Promo
We’re really happy to promote any news or events you are hosting across our social media. You can tag us in any of your posts and we will share them to our audience. If you have any awards or events, please do let us know and we can add those to our content calendar.
